VHD Mount 1.0.2.0

I had posted a new utility back on the 14th of July that automated attaching and detaching VHDs, as well as adding and removing the VHD from the boot menu. Well that utility has had its first update from 1.0 to 1.0.2.0.

Changes

  • Works with the RTM version of Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2.
  • Works with UAC enabled.
  • Works more efficiently and no longer relies on program created .dat files to keep track of the VHDs.
  • No more crashing when loaded!

Requirements for VHD Booting

  • A Windows 7 Ultimate/Enterprise VHD or a Windows Server 2008 R2 VHD.
  • A Windows 7, Vista, or XP host.

Requirements for mounting VHDs

  • Windows 7.

Installation Instructions

  • Download and then copy the VHDMount.exe file to a location where you have read/write access (do NOT rename the file or it won’t work with UAC).
  • If you have used the old version of VHD Mount, run this in Command Prompt: reg delete HKCR\VHDMount /va
  • Run VHDMount.exe once to install the context menu options for when you right click a VHD.

Usage Instructions

  • Simply opening or double clicking a VHD will automatically mount it to the first available drive letter.
  • Right click the VHD to un-mount or add/remove to/from the boot menu.

Notes:

  • If you move VHDMount.exe after setting it up, follow the installation instructions again, making sure to running the reg delete as specified to delete the old location of the EXE from the registry.
  • For VHD Mount to work with UAC, the default UAC settings should be in effect, the target user must have read and write privileges to the folder in which VHDMount.exe is stored, and VHDMount.exe must keep the original file name.

Screenshots can be found in the original post and the download is below.

The executable doesn't start or doesn't do anything, whether started with Run as Administrator or not. I run Windows 7 64bit
