I followed all of the steps for installing WHS Mobile on the home server and on the iPhone, but I'm getting the following error "Uh oh! Either the WHS Mobile domain is incorrect, or the domain cannot be contacted." I've checked everything several times and all the settings are correct. Please help.

Ron,

Do you have a space in your username? That's a bug that I've fixed in v1.5.3. If not, are you on your local Wi-Fi? Try using your Home Server's IP instead of the domain. If that works, either the domain has a problem or your router does.

Dirk,

Non-English Home Servers are having a problem in this release. If you don't want to wait for v1.5.3, please follow this:

Remote into your WHS and navigate to C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\ in Explorer.

Next right click Temporary ASP.NET Files and choose properties. Next, click the Security tab. Click the Add button. Type in: Windows Home Server Users

Click OK. Then click the Allow check box for Full Control. Then click OK. Run iisreset and then try reconnecting with your iPhone.

Good work Brent!! just thought I'd share something. Finally got WHS Mobile to connect from the iPhone after numerous tries with the Domain Name. I have a custom Domain setup from TZO that I purchased when I set up my HP EX-485 MediaSmart Server. And I had bought the actual Domain from Mydomains.com----and just was fowrding nameservers to the TZO site. Anyway----I finally got it to find the domain by using the simple www.mydomainname.com. (Substitute your actual domain name for myDomainName) For some reason-----adding the www. in front of the actual domain name got it to connect. Looking forward to the updates. Thanks again!!

Hi Brent great app, however it doesnt work fully. Tried all the things above and finally noticed that I use a space in my logonname. Made a new user account without any spaces in the logon name. This works.....

But now the app starts and closes after a few seconds.

What can I do, already tried to reinstall the app several times but this doesnt work. Also did a soft reset of my iphone, but this also had no result.

I am currently using 1.5.3 but when I browse a large directory the app closes.

Is there a limit on directory size, amount of folders and files?

Great application from what I've read and I'm trying to get it up and working and running into what I believe is a simple problem but is making no sense.

I got the Add-in installed and I have my user account, no spaces, configured for everything minus the RDP which is greyed out. When I use the Client on my HTC Tilt 2, Windows Mobile 6.5, It gives me the spinning windows logo then the application spits out an Error! and the messages says simply Incorrect Password.

Now the security logs are clean and I'm not sure it is even getting to the server but some help would be appreciated.

Hi Brent.

Now i can connect to my WHS really fine... but i can not see any icon of iPhone APP home page, and only can see a few items...

for example, i dont see anything of My Music or My Videos folder

BTW my WHS is in Spanish

Hello, I have the add-in installed on the WHS, the port configured, the app installed, I login and see documents etc. when I try to view a PDF or .doc it's just blank. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hello, I have similar problems on WHS. I bought the WHS Mobile from AppStore, I installed the 1.5.3 msi package to WHS then i went to my iphones settings, and when i connect,

there is an Oops with wrong username and password, i enabled guest account it worked for once then i made a password to guest account the problem came back. I think the

Authentication is the problem. I reinstalled the 1.5.3, restarted, deleted all accounts, made router changes with MTA to 1500 packet sizes then back to normal. No resolution..

WHS - Ebglish - all ms updates ( reinstalled 2 times

IPhone 3GS . 3.12 and WHS Mobile from AppStore from today

Any Ideas ?

Hi Brent

I have installed the Add-In, set it up and downloaded the iPhone app. I cannot get the app to log into the server trying either URL method or IP address for LAN. I don't have spaces in my user names and I can Remote Access from my desktop Mac using a browser and via Shared Folders on my Vista desktop. The only thing I can't do is connect the iPhone via the add-in :-( Am I doing something wrong?

very nice app! took me a while to get it going.. but mp3 streaming is fine... do you plan on implementing video streaming? I havent seen any links to feature requests or anything...

Make sure you tap "View" instead of "Download". Also wait a minute for the document to load.

What error message do you get, if any? Please port forward port 8169 (TCP).

Video streaming can be done, however the iPhone only supports one format: MP4 with AAC. I can convert certain video formats on the server but the user will have to wait at least five minutes before being able to play it.

Hi,

I am using 1.5.3 and a iphone 3GS with the actual software.

I like the software but there are some problems:

- No Icons with the 3GS

- When I browse a large directory the app closes

- When I try to play musi an error occured "Attemp to play straeming audio failed"

Maybe you can help ?

Please help. I have updated my WHS to 1.5.3, I have no space in my User Name, I have tried both Wi-Fi and 3G, I have enabled the "Feature Setups" on my WHS, and I continue to get the error: "Uh oh! Either the WHS Mobile domain is incorrect, or the domain cannot be contacted."

I was able to log into your "Demo" version buy following the video, but I can't get it to work on my own WHS.

Please help.

Great app, just purchased and setup. Works good. I do not have icons next to my file folders. I have them for users, but not for folders? Also a request for the app. When I select a file I have options to Rename, Download, View, Delete or Cancel. If you could add in email that would be huge! If I am out and some needs a document from my office, I can then just select it and email it.

Right now I just select download and use iFile (JB app) to them email the file. Thanks and let me know about the icons!

This app is one of the main reasons I switched from Blackberry to iPhone! It is fantastic. Quick and easy setup, too!

The one thing I immediately noticed on my 3GS, though... No icons next to folders/files. There are thumbnails for pics though...

Please use this icon pack for share icons: blog.compugeeksoftware.com/.../whs-mobile-1-5 (near downloads).

I will see about embedding icons but also making them override-able. I'll see what I can do for common file types that do not have thumbnails.

Please update your iPhone to 1.5.3.2 when it becomes available. Also, make sure to update your WHS add-in to 1.5.3.1.

I have a problem uploading pictures to my WHS. It works if I use the "Upload from Camera" option in my Iphone. But if I use the option "upload" it doesnt.

I using version 1.5.3.

Any clue why?

Hi Brent, i just try to use WHS 1.5.3.1 together with the latest release for WHS mobile on HTC Touch Pro 2 (WM6.5) and on HTC Touch Diamond (WM 6.1)- I can use the console itsself, changing Users and other things but i can not load my files. The application on the mobile works, shows turnig symbol but does never show me the files which are set free to be shared.

Brent, what do you mean by regular upload option? I cant seem to find more option than "upload" and "Upload from Camera".

And what I understand it's only images that's possible to upload?

This problem is strange. It looks like it's working.

When I use the upload option and select an existing image and after I have give it a name the display fades to transparent black and shows "Please wait...", exactly like the upload from camera option. But when it fade back to white no image is uploaded.

I have also upgraded to version 1.5.3.2

Wow, great app! I did have a few issues getting it going, but it was because I didn't read the manual and I missed the port forwarding requirement on the router. Once I did that, I was able to stream an mp3. Then when I tried to go to another directory, I couldn't see any files. I exited the app and restarted it and then I could see the files. I didn't realize that after I started streaming an mp3 that I actually to restart the app before I could see files. Not sure if that is how it is supposed to work, but that's how it is working for me. I'll read the manual again to make sure I didn't miss something. Even if it does work that way, this is great!

juppie now it works. i made the mistake to write the complette url in the domain field like this :

https://xyz.homeserver.com. Now i write only xyz.homeserver.com and it works. you should write this in the manual.

I use the actual Version (automatic updatey) of the German WHS. I think it is SP 3 know.

It should time out eventually, wait five minutes and see. It should show an error message when it does.

Do you have an iPhone 3GS or 3G? It seems to be timing out when uploading (taking too long). I need to have it show an error message when that happens.

Thanks for the app. I downloaded the latest version from apple store (1.5.4.0)?

I am able to connect to WHS, see all the files. However, when I try to listen to music, I click on an mp3 file and select the option to play, it takes me right out of the application on to the main screen.

Then, I am unable to connect to WHS for a few seconds, and the story repeats all over.

Am I doing something wrong?

I know the App worked well since I had to add some more IP adresses to my NIC... I also did the port forwarding to 8169 to the IP used by the WHS IIS, but I only get the message: "Uh oh!
