Hi Brent! Great to hear you are still working on this.

Now, the bad news...my iphone app still crashes on my music and photo folders. This never happened with 1.5.2.

I install the iphone app. Then I uninstalled the WHS add-in via the settings panel, then installed the new add-in....and no luck. it still connects, and opens smaller folders, but not my music of photos folder.

Great App update :-)

Although I have updated the App on the iPhone, when I goto the About box, it still states version 1.5.3, is this an error or has it not updated correctly ?

Can I make one small request.

When uploading photos from the iPhones camera, it uploads in PNG format. Is there any chance of being able to upload in a JPEG format. I use another WHS plugin which instantly displays photos uploaded onto the server on a web site. Unfortuanatly it does not accept PNG files. If this App was able to upload in JPEG or indeed an option between JPEG and PNG with perhaps auto completion of the file name with a time/date stamp this would be absolutely fantastic.

Please continue with this very useful and heavily used App and I look forward to the next release :-)

Hey Brent,

thanks for the update. But the iPhone App still crashes on my iPhone 3GS when opening my Music Folder.

Hope you find a solution for that soon.

Another thing: I'm using WHS Mobile on a german WHS and ALL the Icons are missing when using WHS Mobile on my iPhone. I believe that the Problem is that the "User" folder is called "Benuter" and "Music" is "Musik" any chance you can fix that???

Hi Brent, thanks for the update. I was excited about support for large folders, but alas. I too am still experiencing same behavior as before. Crashing when opening folder with many files (music/photo).

Other than this, I am really impressed with the speed with which I can access my home files. iphone app startup and login is really smooth (unchanged from last version, but still nice).

Glad that all is well with you!

Jus to let you know that all is working fine now! The Appstore in The Netherlands has updated the app to the latest on 1.5.3.1 and after a reinstall on the Iphone and on the Home Server it's working great!

Streaming is fine and the whole app is very fast! No problems with large folders. Loading thumbnails is also super fast! Great job.

Mine still says 1.5.3, and not 1.5.3.1...does anyone have it listed as 1.5.3.1 on the iphone. wondering if it still just shows 1.5.3, or if there was a problem with the version that the app store pushed to us?

It looks like I'm in the same boat as the rest of the U.S. users. Upgraded both the iPhone and the WHS add-in. iPhone is 1.5.3 still WHS is 1.5.3.1.

Good App. Just loaded the iPhone version (happy to pay the cost!). There seems to be an issue when the folder name contains an ampersand (&). The phone browser does not show the contents of the folder.

I installed the new iPhone app, then uninstalled the WHS add-in and installed the 1.5.3.1 version of the add-in. I tried WHS Mobile and nothing changed at all that I could tell. I restarted the iPhone and rebooted the WHS. The iPhone app still shows 1.5.3 and still acts like 1.5.3 - streaming doesn't work...crashes on folders with a large number of items in it. The updates seem to have had no effect in either direction for me...in fact the issue with the rotating thumbnails even still exists (as previously reported).

I'll just remove the feature causing the crash since I cannot seem to fix the problem. The feature being the alphabet bar on the right and grouping by first letter in the name of the file/folder.

As for it still saying 1.5.3 in the iPhone app, I forgot to change the version number in the about tab. It should show the proper version number in iTunes.

I'll have to find your report regarding rotating thumbnails as I have not seen it. What happens when you try to stream? I'm going to go remove the feature I mentioned above to fix the crashes and submit it to Apple. Afterwords, I can do other changes. I just want to get the crash fixed and rolled out first.

Alright, I submitted an update to the iTunes Store (has to be approved). Again, this is the same build as 1.5.3.1 except I removed the alphabetical bar to stop the crashes.

When I try to stream, nothing happens. I have gone into a folder that I could read and chose "Play Album" - it comes up with the media interface and just sits...literally however long I leave it.

My prior post regarding images gave some other issues and detailed error messages.

Have you tried playing an individual mp3 by selecting it and then tapping play? What bitrate is the mp3 you are trying to stream?

Most bitrates are > 256kbs; however, I think I discovered my issue but I haven't proven it with a test yet - I'll do that later today. It is possible apparently that the file I attempted to play is an .m4a instead of mp3 - I have a mix of both formats. I guess I assumed that if it was not playable it wouldn't appear in the list. I will verify and post back later today.

Does anyone else have the problem that when you play an album the order of the songs played is wrong? My files are all named 01-song name, 02-song name, and so on so it seems really strange.

Downloaded the updated app tonight and was able to check out my pictures and music folders without any problems. Previously it would crash the app.

1.5.3.2 corrected the crashing issue for me. The rotating thumbnails thing almost seems as though it is rotating thumbs one place as it downloads them.

My streaming mystery is resolved.

Still have the upload issue (error posted in prior thread). The images being uploaded are pictures taken from the iPhone camera application.

Brent - do you want responses on this thread or the prior thread?

You can also view png, gif, and possibly more (if the iPhone supports others natively). Also, Shawn, you can control the volume by using the hardware buttons on the left of the device (up/down buttons). No need to add another way to control the volume when the device already has one.

The songs are added to a playlist in alphabetical order from the WHS and that is the order they are listed on the device.

I was working on an update for Windows Mobile, it re-enables remote desktop, adds Wake-On-LAN, updates the GUI, and adds swipe to switch photos on WM6.5. If anyone wants to test it, I can send them the updated cab file. I run it on my cooked WM6.5 ROM on my Samsung Omnia and it works just fine.

I'll escape the ampersand symbol in requests in the next build. The reason they won't work in WHS Mobile is due to the way it requests data from the WHS (iPhone only). I have a way to ignore the symbol and allow the data to be processed (I already do it with spaces).

I have succeded in installing the app on my server and Ipod touch and i can connect to my homeserver. I can see users and i can see upnp settings but i cant see any folders under the filestab. If i do a search i get results back. Just not beeing able to browse folders directly. Anyone have an idea?

Hey Im trying to get the WHS App working on my IPhone everytime I try to log in it tells me the WHS domain is incorrect, or the domain cannot be contacted. I have accessed my server via the internet without any problems so Im not sure what next to do.

Can this have something to do with the Port forword 8169 TCP? I have a router/firewall and I added this TCP to it.

I found an answer, try allowing the user in question remote access in the "Users Accounts" tab of the WHS Console. Then when you restart WHS Mobile on your iPhone, the shares should be listed.

Downloaded the new update to my iPhone, but now i can't download any photos.

Error: "Image Failed to Download", "Failed to encode image for saved photo."

I didn't have that problem before. I also installed the update to the console.

ever since i updated i have been unable to connect to my WHS the message is as follows

" Uh oh!

Either the WHS mobile Domain is incorrect, or the domain cannot be connected"

please advise as i have went through the posts and threads and have tried everything i can think of and everything i have found to no avail

I am trying to install WHS Mobile add in V1.5.4.0 and everytime it comes up with " Service "WHS Mobile Alert Service" (WHSMobile) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system service."

I am logged in as administrator so i dont see a problem.... any ideas??
