TV Manager Beta 4

Alright, here is the probably-not-bug-free Beta 4. Please review the changes and upgrade/installation instructions before downloading and setting-up.

Changes

Bugs Bamboozled

I haven't exactly kept a list as I usually do but here is what I remember. (Feel free to add something I forgot)

  • Support for multiple tuners (or more than one file being copied to Recorded TV) Fixed
  • Guide Data Fixed (for real this time)
  • French Support Fixed (I believe)
  • MCE 2005 support fixed (removed symbolic linking because XP can't do that without 3rd party software)
  • Extender support fixed.
  • Fixed duration showing up as "under one minute".

Features Added

  • Launches shows from the Console by double clicking an episode in the list.
  • Show all episodes when a show isn't selected in the tree.
  • Added copying percentage on mouse hover of the client tray icon.
  • Recorded TV moved out of Videos and given it's own share.

Regarding Help By Comments

Seeing how I've had quite a few people not getting the help they need, if the ask by comment; I am now adding this blog post.

I'm very sorry about that. I don't notice your comment if you've encountered a bug or need help for a reason (a stupid reason but still a reason). I don't check the blog that often and don't receive notifications that there is a new comment. Yes, I know that it is no excuse, but I do have a life (well, maybe not. I do get busy though).

If you need help, please post it in the corresponding forum here. This way, you get the help that you deserve.

I've installed the add-in on both my MCE and WHS but the listings do not appear in my WHS. I'm a little confused where the setting controls are at our how it looks/works when it's working correctly. Is there a link where I can read more about this?

RW

Installs fine on WHS. Crashes immediately upon install on Vista. Tried uninstall and reinstall. Reboot, crashes immediately (TV Manager has stopped working....). Anyone else seen this and know how to fix it?

PaulP

RW, I am having exactly the same problem; TV Manager has stopped working). Previously had Beta 2 installed which was working ok, skipped beta 3 and went straignt to B4. I followed the uninstall and reinstall instructions, no luck.

Anyone have any ideas on this.

Nathan

RW -

Yeah, I've seen this as well. Make sure you have the connector installed on the Media Center machine before running the TV Manager application. This fixed it for me.

Hi Nathan

I have not changed the WHS connector and this is running ok on the MC box. Just can't seem to get the TV Manager client to start without stopping after a short time. Did you do anything else to get it working?

Rich

I'm having the same issue, "TV Manager has stopped working" on the VMC machine.

Jerry Fowler

I tried to install TV Manager into my WHS system and received the error

Service “TV Manager” (TVManager) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

Any ideas why? I tried installing it via the Home Server Console and by Remote Desktop Service. When I cancel installation I get this error.

The selected Add-in failed to install. The error code was 1603. Please contact the Add-in author for assistance.

Thanks,

Jerry Fowler

very new to WHS, but not new to computers.
