Push notifications coming in WHS Mobile v1.5.3.4 Tuesday, February 16 2010 - Add-Ins

For those that haven’t seen a comment I made in the post regarding making WHS Mobile free (I’ve decided not to do so), I’ve posted some details on what is coming in version 1.5.3.4 and that includes push notifications of server alerts/health. I do not yet have an ETA as I just resubmitted the update to Apple an hour ago (I canceled the update that was awaiting approval since I had found a bug). However, it should not take more than two weeks to approve.

True story:

I was writing a comment earlier on the post linked to above, when I got a push notification from my server. This I wasn’t expecting because my current Home Server is barely used due to its recent move to a VM. Here is a screen shot of the alert pushed by my WHS (click for enlarged view):

Thankfully, my system drive had not failed but was throwing a false positive due to a reboot from Windows Updates. Though, I did find it very useful and handy that my WHS to pushed the alert to my development iPhone (no service) that was sitting on my desk next to me. The funny thing is, I got the alert on the iPhone before it showed up on my PC.

Anyway, I just thought I’d share an example of how pushed health notifications may be useful in the “real” world.

Hi Brent,

unfortunately I don't have any folder icon in the "Files" view, just blank spaces. Any hint what's wrong? I' have latest v1.5.3.4 installed on iPhone 3GS with OS3.1.2

I too have had several push notificaitons about volume failure.. which isnt true.. I also cant find away to read or clear the notifications once they have gone from the lockscreen. I have a red ibadge over WHS Mobile icon indicating how many messages, but no way to view or clear them...

I too have no icon images next to any of the titles...

Looks promising though...

Same here....no way to clear or view the alerts on the iphone.

also only can connect over 3G but not wifi?

The push noticiation is great, but there needs to be a way to clear the bagde on the icon. I show 11 alerts, great!! HOW DO I CLEAR IT???

Submitted an update that fixes the alert numbers. It will also have embedded icons for shares, files, and folders. I just have to wait for Apple to approve it before it will be available.

I just got a WHS and your product. So far I love both. But I have one question is there a way to add mover events to monitor for push notification? I have a feeling that I am asking in the wrong place but maybe you could point me in the right direction.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "mover events to monitor for push notification." Do you mind rephrasing your question or explaining it in a bit more detail?
